Thales Alenia Space @ Turkmentel 2016
Thales Alenia Space is a Gold Sponsor of Turkmentel 2016, the 10th edition of this international telecommunications, broadcasting and information technology trade show, taking place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from September 28 to 30. Turkmentel 2016 is an excellent opportunity for Thales Alenia Space to meet a number of government and industry delegations from Turkmenistan and throughout Central Asia.
The European company will be showcasing its expertise in space telecommunications, especially as a supplier of end-to-end solutions based on flexible payloads, IP via satellite network equipment and the associated operating facilities. Also in the spotlight will be Spacebus Neo, the new line of telecom satellite platforms from Thales Alenia Space, which has already won three contracts since 2015. The new high throughput satellite SES-17, being built by Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor for international operator SES, will be based on this latest-generation platform.
TurkmenAlem: a sucess-story!
During its sixth consecutive participation in this show, Thales Alenia Space will naturally be spotlighting the TurkmenAlem 52 E communications satellite, built by the company for the Turkmenistan Minister of Telecommunications. This has been a very successful program, which garnered extensive media coverage in 2015. In service since June 2015, the satellite enables Turkmenistan to operate its first national satellite telecommunications system, giving the country a wide range of improved and secure telecom services.
TurkmenAlem: a number of firsts
- The satellite was launched in April 2015 by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the first SpaceX launch of a Thales Alenia Space satellite.
- TurkmenAlem is the first telecom satellite built by Thales Alenia Space to incorporate flexible traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTA), meaning that the output power is adjustable.
- TurkmenAlem was also the first telecom satellite from Thales Alenia Space to incorporate components made by the additive manufacturing method, also known as 3D printing.
