Thales Alenia Space @ MSPO 2016 defense and security show in Poland
Another focus at the show will be Stratobus™, a stratospheric, autonomous airship capable of carrying out multiple missions, and a perfect complement to satellite systems. Marking a break with current technologies, Stratobus™ addresses defense forces’ emerging requirements, for instance by providing permanent surveillance over a predefined regional coverage zone.
Another Thales Alenia Space flagship program in the spotlight at MSPO is ExoMars. The first part of this two pronged mission (2016 and 2020) is already en route for the Red Planet. The Schiaparelli Entry, Descent and Landing Demonstrator Module (EDM) will separate from the Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) on October 16 this year. It is scheduled to make a delicate landing on Mars just three days later, on October 19. All of Europe – and space fans worldwide – are waiting with bated breath. Still 80 million kilometers to wait before Schiaparelli reaches the Red Planet!
Thales Alenia Space Polska already a year and a half old!
While our Polish subsidiary Thales Alenia Space Polka was created in 2015, we had already started working with Polish companies and universities back in 2012. Thales Alenia Space fully intends to be a preferred partner in the development of the Polish space industry by acting as an industry catalyst, especially for defense and Earth observations applications. The company’s strategy entails the implementation of a program in the coming years designed to foster the growth of Polish space capabilities and an independent local industry. Thales Alenia Space Polska will reshape the Polish industrial landscape by integrating local partners in its supply chain. At the same time, Thales Alenia Space has the extensive capabilities needed to offer a state-of-the-art very-high-resolution Earth observation system that meets the Polish defense ministry’s immediate needs. The ESA Multi-Mission Platform study Thales Alenia Space is today leading in Poland and its expected next implementation phases will be the cornerstone of this ambition.
